Puglia is one of the most productive regions in Italy with about 86,700 hectares under vine. The climate of the region is typically Mediterranean; the coastal and flat areas have hot and windy summers, with typically mild and moderately rainy winters.
Wine producers here have started to devote themselves to quality production, aware of the enormous potential of the region. Negroamaro and Primitivo, two native grapes, have gained greater prestige in recent years. Primitivo di Manduria, in particular, is one of the most important DOCs in the region and is produced with 100% Primitivo grapes, aged in barrel.
